Overview

Experience Petra in a unique, magical way. This nighttime experience begins at 8:30 PM from the visitor center and lasts approximately 2 hours. Your experience starts with a pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Amman.

Begin your unique experience with a stroll along Al-Siq in complete silence, taking in the mesmerizing sights around you. Hundreds of candles light the path on either side. Upon arriving at the treasury, sit down and enjoy listening to traditional Jordanian music played by local Bedouins while being surrounded by candles.

Gaze at what’s left of the natural landscapes, rocks, and mountains, and experience a star-lit sky. The candles and the moon create stunningly beautiful, magical scenes all around. When the event ends, head back toward Amman in a climate-controlled vehicle.

If you have selected the Day and Night option, you will start your visit to the astonishing rock city of Petra on your own or with a local guide, if hired. This fascinating ancient Nabatean capital dominated the Arabian trade routes and is a must-see in the Middle East. You will pass the Siq, a narrow gorge where you get the first close views of the colorful sandstone, ending at the beautiful Treasury. Walk along the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs, the Theater, and Qasr Al Bint. Free time on your own, then walk the same way back to the entrance gate. The average time customers spend in Petra is 5 hours.

    Petra by Day

Petra, an ancient city in Jordan, was founded by the Nabataean Arabs around the 6th century B.C. It grew from a settlement into a powerful commercial empire, controlling vital trade routes and accumulating immense wealth.

Visitors can enter the Siq on horseback, a narrow canyon that leads to the city. Emerging from the mysterious depths of the Siq, the breathtaking sight of the Treasury, or Al-Khazneh, awaits. This iconic monument, renowned for its elaborate Corinthian facade and towering presence, is carved with incredible precision into the rock face. While its purpose remains a subject of scholarly debate (some believe it to be a royal tomb or a temple), its sheer grandeur has undeniably captivated visitors for centuries.

Beyond the Treasury, our exploration continues along the Street of Facades, a collection of monumental Nabataean tombs with elaborately carved exteriors, each silently recounting tales of the past. We then proceed to the Royal Tombs, a magnificent series of rock-cut tombs showcasing the opulence and architectural skill of the Nabataean rulers. These include the Urn Tomb, the Silk Tomb, the Corinthian Tomb, and the Palace Tomb, each a distinct example of Nabataean artistry and religious beliefs.

Our journey through Petra also encompasses Pharaoh’s Castle, or Qasr al-Bint, a remarkably preserved Nabataean temple that stands as one of the city's few freestanding structures. Its impressive dimensions and detailed carvings offer further insight into the Nabataeans’ religious and architectural prowess. As we delve deeper into this ancient city, we will also discover other significant structures, including the Theatre, the Great Temple, and various altars and dwellings, all of which contribute to the rich tapestry of Petra’s history.

Petra’s exceptional historical and architectural significance has garnered global recognition, culminating in its designation as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. This status underscores its unparalleled universal value, attracting visitors from every corner of the globe eager to witness its enduring majesty.
